A decisive step towards equitable representation, AP govt welcomes Delimitation Bill: TDP AP Chief

Visakhapatnam, Apr 16 (UNI) Describing the Delimitation Bill introduced in the Parliament as a “historic corrective” aimed at ensuring balanced representation across the country, TDP State president and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao on Thursday dismissed apprehensions that the proposed exercise would disadvantage southern States, terming such claims as “misplaced and not borne out by facts.”

Articulating the contours of the proposed reform, Srinivasa Rao noted that the Bill departs from a strictly population-based approach, instead envisaging an approximately 50% increase in Lok Sabha seats for each State on a more uniform basis. This, he argued, effectively addresses concerns of regional imbalance and ensures that no State is left at a disadvantage in the evolving parliamentary framework.
