5 students injured as school van collided with bus in Nagpur

Nagpur, Sep 12 (UNI) At least five students were injured when a school van collided head-on with a bus on the Mankapur flyover in Maharashtra's Nagpur on Friday morning, police said.
The accident occurred when the school van of Bhavan’s Koradi Road branch rammed into a bus belonging to Narayana Vidyalam, Bokhara. The bus was on its way to pick up students when the mishap took place.
According to police, the flyover has been partially closed for repairs, forcing two-way traffic into a single lane.
Preliminary inquiry suggests the van driver, while speeding, strayed into the opposite lane and hit the bus.
At least five children sustained serious injuries in the crash. Only two of them were conscious when pulled out of the vehicle, while others were found unconscious.
The van driver also suffered grievous head and abdominal injuries, police said.
Passersby and locals rushed the injured to a nearby hospital. The bus driver and two female attendants escaped unhurt.
Traffic on the flyover remained disrupted for nearly an hour following the incident, police added.
