38 fall ill after consuming fermented soybean in Saitual district

Aizawl, Sep 10 (UNI) At least 38 people have fallen ill after consuming fermented soybean at Keifang village in Mizoram's northeastern Saitual district, according to sources at the Saitual District Hospital on Tuesday.
Doctors have examined all 38 individuals, with no fatalities reported so far. Nine people remain admitted to the hospital, while 29 have been treated and either discharged or left on their own.
The victims purchased the fermented soybean from a local woman on Saturday. By Sunday evening, many began experiencing symptoms including stomach pain, diarrhoea, and high fever, though they initially did not link their illness to the soybean.
