35,000 Anna Bhagya bags found in private warehouse: BJP

Bengaluru, June 13 (UNI) The discovery of 35,000 Anna Bhagya scheme-branded bags in a private warehouse during recent Lokayukta raids has triggered a political storm in Karnataka, with the BJP on Saturday alleging a large-scale diversion of food grains meant for poor beneficiaries and demanding a high-level probe into the matter.
Karnataka BJP presiden Vijayendra Yediyurappa claimed that a joint operation by the Lokayukta at Food Corporation warehouses and other locations in Bengaluru had uncovered the illegal diversion and sale of hundreds of quintals of ration rice and ragi supplied under the state government's flagship Anna Bhagya scheme.
Calling it a serious betrayal of welfare beneficiaries, Vijayendra alleged that food grains intended for economically weaker sections were being siphoned off and routed into the black market. He demanded the immediate arrest of those behind the alleged racket and sought strict action against officials found complicit.
