3 of family electrocuted while cleaning choked pipeline near high-tension line

Jhansi (UP), Oct 08 (UNI) Three members of a family were electrocuted while attempting to clean a choked pipeline near a high-tension electricity line in the Prem Nagar area of Jhansi early this morning.
The incident occurred early morning near Dayashankar Sahu's three-storey house located close to a canal.
According to reports, Dayashankar's son, Praveen Sahu, was cleaning a blocked pipe using a long iron wire when the wire accidentally came in contact with an 11,000 KV high-tension line running just a few feet from the building.

NC falls in Budgam, fails first electoral test since last year’s Assembly polls

Srinagar, Nov 14 (UNI) In a major political upset, the National Conference has lost its Budgam bastion to the Peoples Democratic Party — only the second time that the party has been defeated in one of its most enduring strongholds.
The PDP candidate Aga Muntazir won the Budgam bypoll, wresting a constituency that the NC had held uninterrupted since 1977 and which last sent Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to the Assembly in the 2024 elections. Barring 1972, NC candidates won this seat in 1957, 1962, 1967, 1977, 1983, 1987, 1996, 2002, 2008, 2014 and 2024.
