18 IEDs recovered and destroyed in Joint anti-maoist operation in Kolhan region

Chaibasa, July 9 (UNI) A joint anti-Naxal operation by Jharkhand Police, CRPF, and Jharkhand Jaguar in the forested border areas of West Singhbhum (Chaibasa) and Khunti districts led to the recovery and safe destruction of 18 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) today.
According to the Chaibasa district police, the operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs received on July 8 indicating that armed cadres of the banned CPI (Maoist), including senior leaders such as Misir Besra, Anmol, Mochhu Anal, Aseem Mandal, Ajay Mahato, Sagen Angaria, Ashwin, Pintu Lohra, Chandan Lohra, Amit Hansda alias Upton, Jaykant, and Rapa Munda, were active in the Saranda and Kolhan regions with intentions of carrying out destructive activities.
The IEDs, each weighing approximately 3 kilograms, were found buried in a hilly forested area near Kochang under Adki police station in Khunti district, close to the West Singhbhum border. Security forces suspect the explosives were planted to target patrolling parties and disrupt ongoing operations.
