1200 MW BALCO Power Plant in Korba shut for pollution

Raipur, Sep 24 (UNI) A day after a major breach in the embankment of Bharat Aluminium Company (BALCO)'s ash pond at Rukbahari village in Korba, Chhattisgarh Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on Sunday shut down the company's 1200 MW captive power plant at Korba for pollution.

The pollution watchdog's order came after the fly ash slurry from the damaged pond Number 6 flowed into the Belgiri nullah causing air and water pollution in the entire region.
