'We will try to give stable govt in country': NCP (SP) chief

Pune, May 22 (UNI) NCP (SP) supremo president Sharad Pawar on Wednesday indicated that BJP will likely get fewer seats in this year's Lok Sabha elections than last two LS elections and expressed that they will form a stable government with like-minded parties in the country.
Talking to a private television channel, he said, "In this year's Lok Sabha elections, BJP will get fewer seats than in last two Lok Sabha elections. If BJP gets less than the majority of seats, we will definitely try to give a stable government to the country by bringing together the like-minded parties in the country."
He said that in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections NCP got only five seats in Maharashtra and Congress won only one seat in Madhya Pradesh, but it seems that they are expecting an improvement in number of seats this year, he noted.
This year, there will be an improvement in position of the Congress in three states of Haryana, Punjab and Delhi, he said and informed that it will also get some seats in Rajasthan and Gujarat.
On contrary, BJP does not have much influence in southern states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana and Karnataka, so there is not much scope for them, the NCP chief said.
Criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making fun of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi by calling him Shahzade etc., he clarified that with exception of Modi, Rahul Gandhi is taken seriously by the majority of people, and this was evident from the response of public to his yatras across the country.
During the yatras, Rahul Gandhi met people from all walks of life, indicating that he is now serious about politics than before, Pawar added.
