“Walk Like NCC: Chest Out, Chin Up!” Navy chief tells cadets

New Delhi, Jan 19 (UNI) Emphasising discipline, learning and resilience as the cornerstones of success, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi on Monday shared five life lessons with NCC cadets, drawn from over five decades of his experience in uniform.
Addressing the young cadets during his visit to the ongoing Republic Day Camp 2026 in the national capital, the Navy Chief highlighted self-discipline, continuous learning, courage, teamwork and the spirit of never giving up as values essential not only for a military career but for life as responsible citizens, urging the youth to carry these principles beyond the parade ground into academics, professional life and nation-building.
Referring to the moto of NCC “Unity and Discipline” the CNS said that it is the discipline that decides your future is something else. “It is self-discipline – the one you follow in your own life, in your own space, even when no one is watching. It is the ability to control your time, your habits, and your attention. In today’s digital age, when smart phones, social media, constant notifications, and endless scrolls compete for your attention, self- discipline is also the strength to say no to such distractions,” he said.
