Patna, Jan 26 (UNI) Highlighting the commitment of the Bihar government to the overall development of every section by the provisions of the constitution, Governor Arif Mohammad Khan said that there is a "Rule of Law" in the state and its maintenance was on the top of the agenda of the government.
Unfurling the Tricolour on the occasion of the 76th Republic Day function here at the historical Gandhi Maidan on Sunday, Khan said that the emphasis of the state government was on sushasan and judicious development of every section of the society by the provisions mentioned in the constitution for equal opportunity and for a dignified life.
There was a complete rule of law in Bihar and its maintenance was the top priority of the state government, he said, and outlined the initiatives and the strategies of the government for controlling crime and maintaining law and order. For this, the government has increased the strength of police forces along with increasing the number of police stations. The latest gazettes and modern equipment were also provided to the police forces to handle any eventuality. Appreciating the performance of the emergency service dial 112, he said that more than 20 lakh people have so far taken the benefits of the service.
The Governor said there was social and communal harmony in the state where speedy actions were being initiated by the police and administration in case of any incident of communal tension.
Speaking about the improved network of roads, he said that several roads, bridges, and culverts have been constructed following which the travel time from remote areas to Patna was minimised to 6 hours in 2016 and now the government was working at an accelerated pace for further minimising the travel time to 5 hours.
The Governor said that medical facilities have been improved and arrangements for providing free treatment as well as medicines have been made at all government health institutions.
He said that the number of Government Medical College hospitals which was only 6 in the state has now increased to 12 and the government was also constructing 14 new medical college hospitals. After completion, the total strength of the Government Medical College hospitals in the state would be 26 of which 8 were being constructed with the centre's assistance.
The capacity of the prestigious Patna Medical College Hospital is being increased to 5400 beds while in the other five old Medical College hospitals the capacity of the bed was being increased to 2500.
He also outlined the initiatives of the state government towards women empowerment for which 50 percent reservation was given to them in Panchayati Raj institutions in the year 2006 and other Civic bodies in the year 2007. In addition to this 35 percent reservations have been given to the women in police in 2013. Similarly the government was also providing 35 percent reservation to the women in government jobs since 2016. The Governor mentioned the achievements of Jeevika didis.
Education was also on the top of the agenda of the state government which has taken several steps to improve the educational scenario within the state for which several schools were established and educational infrastructure was improved.
He said that the government has also employed several youth in the field of teaching following which the teacher's students ratio was now at par with the national average.
Highlighting the outcomes of the seven resolves, the Governor said that under this mission toilets and tap water supply were ensured to every household which were also connected with the pucca roads.
Under 7 Resolves Part 2 initiated in 2020 more than 9 lakh youth were provided with government jobs and against target of 10 lakhs, 24 lakh youth were facilitated with employment. He said that the appointment process was going on and against a target of 10 lahks, 12 lakh government jobs would be given this year. He further said that 34 lakh people will also get employment in the current year.
Under the seven resolves part 2, other activities including irrigation to every field, clean and prosperous villages, installation of solar lights, telemedicine services, and free treatment to children suffering from holes in heart valves have been initiated.
The Governor said that agriculture being the backbone of the economy is at the centre of the development projects and the government has introduced the 4th agriculture road map. Over Rs 1 lakh 62268 crore has been sanctioned for the third agricultural road map.
The government was also promoting industries in the state for which Bihar Business Connect 2024 was organised recently in which a Memorandum of understanding for over Rs 1 lakh 80 thousand crores was signed for establishing industries.
The Governor said that the state government has embarked on Pragati Yatra to review the schemes and to assist with the requirements of the districts.
Reiterating the state government's commitment to socio economic and educational upliftment of every section, the Governor appealed to the people to cooperate in the mission.
