'Lord Curzon Ki Haveli' gets 'A' certificate by CBFC, filmmakers voice disappointment

Mumbai, May 16 (UNI) Bollywood actor and filmmaker Anshuman Jha has voiced disappointment after his directorial debut, 'Lord Curzon Ki Haveli', was granted an 'A' (Adults Only) certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) following an exhaustive four month review process since its censor screening on January 3.
The makers remain disenchanted with the stipulations imposed by the board.
According Jha, the CBFC asked to remove or mute a cuss word spoken by a female character because it contained a gender-specific expletive, while the film has already been carrying an 'A' rating.
Further, the CBFC reportedly raised concerns over the film's linguistic structure, which comprises nearly equal parts Hindi and English dialogue; this too became a point of contention, to Jha's bewilderment.
Speaking on the certification, Anshuman Jha commented, “It’s a relief that we finally have the certification. The journey hasn’t been easy, but we remained committed to the film we wanted to showcase.
"Not only was the delay too long, but to then get an A certification and to cut and mute scenes. There are other films that get away with UA having worse expletives and violence. While I’m ok to follow the rules, it needs to be standardised.”
