'Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2' collects Rs 7.20 crore opening weekend

New Delhi, Dec 15 (UNI) 'Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2', starring Kapil Sharma, has managed to hold its ground at the domestic box office despite stiff competition from Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna’s blockbuster Dhurandhar.
Although expectations were high for the sequel to the 2015 comedy—driven by the original film’s strong performance—the opening weekend figures have been relatively modest.
On Day 3, the film earned an estimated Rs 2.85 crore net in India. This marked only limited growth compared to its opening day collection of Rs 1.85 crore, while Saturday saw a slight increase with earnings of around Rs 2.5 crore net. With Sunday’s figures included, the film’s total opening weekend collection stands at approximately Rs 7.20 crore net, according to early estimates by Sacnilk.
In terms of gross earnings, the film has collected an estimated Rs 8.6 crore domestically. Adding around Rs 50 lakh from overseas markets, 'Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2' has recorded a worldwide box office collection of approximately Rs 9.1 crore.
These numbers fall significantly short of the performance of the first instalment, which had amassed a massive Rs 28.8 crore over its opening weekend and went on to be declared a hit, finishing with a gross collection of about Rs 67.47 crore.
Trade reports suggest the film is facing an uphill battle due to the overwhelming success of Dhurandhar. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film closed its first week with an impressive Rs 207.25 crore net and added a massive Rs 144.5 crore in its second weekend, significantly impacting the business of newer releases, including 'Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2.'
Despite its relatively subdued performance, the sequel has already become Kapil Sharma’s third highest-grossing film, with collections of Rs 7.20 crore so far. It is now just a few crore away from overtaking Firangi to secure the second spot on the actor’s box office list, which stands at an estimated Rs 10.21 crore. The original 'Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon' remains his biggest hit, with a lifetime net collection of Rs 49.98 crore.
Directed by Anukalp Goswami, 'Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2' also features Manjot Singh, Tridha Choudhury, Ayesha Khan, Parul Gulati, Hira Warina, and Asrani in prominent roles.
