‎Kharge and Rahul Gandhi extend Ramzan greetings, emphasise peace and harmony

‎New Delhi, Feb 19 (UNI) As the holy month of Ramzan began, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday extended warm greetings to people across the country, highlighting the values of prayer, reflection, compassion, and communal harmony associated with the sacred period.
In a post on X, Kharge said, “Warm greetings as the holy month of Ramzan dawns, a time of prayer, reflection, mercy, and redemption.”
He expressed hope that the month would renew a collective commitment to service and unity. “May this sacred month rekindle in us a deeper spirit of service to humanity, and inspire compassion, peace, amity, and harmony in all that we do. Ramzan Mubarak,” he added.
‎Echoing similar sentiments, Rahul Gandhi also conveyed his wishes on X, writing, “Ramzan Mubarak! May this pious month bring peace, prosperity and good health to everyone.”
‎Significance of Ramzan
‎Ramzan, observed by Muslims worldwide, is a month of fasting from dawn to dusk, marked by prayer, charity, and self-discipline. It commemorates the first revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad and is regarded as a period of spiritual reflection, increased devotion, and community solidarity.
‎Throughout the month, devotees engage in fasting (roza), special nightly prayers (Taraweeh), and acts of charity (zakat and sadaqah), reinforcing the values of empathy and social responsibility.
The greetings from the Congress leaders come amid preparations for community prayers and charitable initiatives across the country. Their messages underscored themes of peace, mutual respect, and harmony — values that resonate deeply during Ramzan.
