'Bad Monkey' Season Two expands cast with Keyla Monterroso Mejia and Mo Amer

Los Angeles, Kan 7 (UNI) The cast of "Bad Monkey" is growing once again, with Keyla Monterroso Mejia and Mo Amer joining the comedy series in recurring capacities for its second season, led and executive produced by Vince Vaughn.
Specifics regarding their characters are being closely guarded. The pair join a lineup of newly announced cast members that includes John Malkovich, Yvonne Strahovski, Zavior Phillips, Nate Jackson, Brent Morin, Peter Billingsley and June Diane Raphael. Meanwhile, Natalie Martinez, Charlotte Lawrence and John Ortiz are also set to return.
Based on Carl Hiaasen's New York Times bestselling novel and created by Bill Lawrence, Bad Monkey's second season will present a new original story, the specifics of which are under wraps. The first season introduced viewers to Andrew Yancy (Vaughn), who has been bounced from the Miami Police Department and is now a health inspector in the Keys. But after stumbling upon a case that begins with a human arm fished up by tourists, he realises that if he can prove murder, he'll be back in. He just needs to get past a trove of Floridian oddballs and one bad monkey.
Apart from Vaughn, the first season also featured L. Scott Caldwell, Rob Delaney, Meredith Hagner, Martinez, Alex Moffat, Michelle Monaghan, Ronald Peet, Jodie Turner-Smith, with special guest star Ortiz and guest stars Zach Braff, Ashley Nicole Black, Scott Glenn and Lawrence in her television debut.
Hailing from Warner Bros. Television, Bad Monkey was developed by executive producer and showrunner Bill Lawrence through his Doozer Productions. Jeff Ingold, Matt Tarses (Scrubs), Vaughn, Liza Katzer and Adam Sztykiel are also executive producers, reports DEADLINE.
Monterroso Mejia broke out a memorable turn opposite Larry David on HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm, earning kudos for her work from Quinta Brunson, who later cast her in Season 2 of her Emmy-winning series Abbott Elementary. In television, she has also recently been seen on The Studio, Running Point and Acapulco. Notable recent film credits include Amazon MGM's You're Cordially Invited and Sony's acclaimed comedy One of Them Days.
Recently named as one of our Comics Who Won 2025, Amer is coming off of his 2025 global tour, El Oso Palestino — his biggest yet, spanning over 100 shows on four continents, with 135K tickets sold. Last year, he released his third Netflix special, Wild World, as well as the second and final season of his semi-autobiographical Netflix series Mo, with both titles making the streamer's Top 10.
