‘Auto retail registers robust 40.52 pc growth in Feb in J&K’

Jammu, Mar 6 (UNI) The two-wheeler category witnessed a growth of 53.48 percent at 7,792 units in February 2026, as compared to 5,077 units in February 2025 across Jammu and Kashmir.
The three-wheeler category witnessed a growth of 27.79 pc at 1,292 units in February 2026, as compared to 1,011units in February 2025, said Sanjay Aggarwal, Chairperson, Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations Jammu (FADAJ) here in a statement reflecting on February 2026 Auto Retail performance in J&K, “February 2026 showed a spectacular growth of 40.52 % YoY.”
The Commercial Wheeler category witnessed a growth of 38.04% at 1,212 units in February 2026, as compared to 878 units in February 2025. The Construction Equipment category remained 0% at 42 units in February 2026, as compared to 42 units in February 2025.
The Passenger Vehicle category witnessed a Growth of 33.32% at 5,834 units in February 2026, as compared to 4,376 units in February 2025.
The Tractor Vehicle category witnessed a downfall of -9.43% at 317 units in February 2026, as compared to 350 units in February 2025.
In J&K total retail is 16,489 in February 2026 as compared to 11,734 in February 2025 thereby registering a growth of 40.52 % YoY.
Aggarwal said that the strong performance was largely driven by robust demand in the two-wheeler and passenger vehicle segments, which continue to remain the key contributors to overall retail growth in the region.
He said that the strong growth in the two-wheeler segment highlights the continued preference of consumers for affordable and convenient mobility solutions.
Rising urban as well as semi-urban demand has played a key role in driving this segment forward.
Aggarwal said that looking ahead to March’26, dealer sentiment remains largely positive. Demand is expected to be supported by the confluence of multiple festivals such as Navratri, Ramzan and Eid, along with the financial year-end buying cycle, which traditionally accelerates vehicle purchases across segments.
