‘Assi’ motion poster reveals Taapsee Pannu in gripping courtroom drama

New Delhi, Jan 23 (UNI) After keeping audiences intrigued with cryptic campaigns, the makers of ‘Assi’ have finally revealed that Taapsee Pannu will headline the upcoming investigative thriller directed by Anubhav Sinha. The motion poster was unveiled, offering a tense first look at the film.
Shared by Taapsee on Instagram, it shows a girl running along railway tracks, desperately trying to escape while three men pursue her. The poster flashes the words “An Urgent Watch” and ends with a striking image of Taapsee’s face smeared in ink.
She wrote, “It's been long... Long since we normalised this....See you in court....I mean the theatres... Assi, an urgent watch, only in cinemas from 20th Feb.”
The film’s ensemble cast also includes Revathy, Manoj Pahwa, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Kani Kusruti, Naseeruddin Shah, Seema Pahwa, Supriya Pathak, and several others.
Assi, described as a relentless investigative thriller, unfolds through a power-packed courtroom drama and raises questions about justice that confront society every day.
The film challenges audiences to ask: Why didn’t I know this? Or did I? Justice must be served, but first, justice must be defined. Are those proven guilty the only culprits?
The marketing campaign for ‘Assi’ began with enigmatic text-only posters reading, “Eighty. Per Day. Every Day. ASSI”, followed by another highlighting the writer as the highest-paid crew member, emphasizing the centrality of writing in the project, marking one of the rare occasions a film announced its writer before the cast or director.
Produced by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series under Benaras Mediaworks, Assi is directed by Anubhav Sinha and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and Sinha himself. The film releases in theatres worldwide on February 20.
Taapsee and Anubhav Sinha have previously collaborated on acclaimed films, including Mulk and Thappad.
