WB approves scheme for sustainable management of ground water

New Delhi, Feb 7 (UNI) The World Bank has approved Atal Bhujal Yojana, a Rs 6,000 crore scheme, for sustainable management of ground water with community participation, the Government informed on Thursday.
Union Minister of State for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Arjun Ram Meghwal in a written reply in the Lok Sabha said the funding pattern is 50:50 between the Union Government and World Bank. The identified over-exploited and water stressed areas for the implementation of the scheme fall in states of Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
Nine blocks of Bundelkhand region in Madhya Pradesh like Chhatarpur (Chhatarpur district), Naugaon (Chhatarpur district), Rajnagar (Chhatarpur district), Sagar (Sagar district), Niwari (Tikamgarh district), Baldeogarh (Tikamgarh district), Palera (Tikamgarh district), Patheria (Damoh district) and Ajeygarh (Panna district) have been identified in the scheme, he said.
