Walmart India, HDFC launches Co-branded Credit cards in Telangana

Hyderabad, Dec 2 (UNI) Walmart India, the wholly owned subsidiary of Walmart Inc, in partnership with HDFC Bank, on Monday launched a co-branded credit card exclusively for members of its Best Price Modern Wholesale 'B2B cash & carry' stores, offering free credit up to 50 days.

The co-branded credit card was launched at 'best price' store by Walmart India President Krish Iyer, India and HDFC Bank Payments Business and Marketing Country Head Parag Rao.

Simultaneously, the card was launched at 26 other 'best price' modern wholesale store locations pan India.

Under the new collaboration, registered members of Walmart India’s 'best price' across the country would now also be able to pay for their purchases via the exclusive co-branded credit card, in addition to other payment solutions already available to them, Mr Iyer said on the occasion.

With over one million members, mainly kiranas, now being introduced to the co-branded card, the company is accelerating its push to adoption of digital payments in India, he further said.

The co-branded card, available in two variants, would offer 'best price' members rewards and cashback on all purchases, with savings of up to six per cent on annual spends, he informed.

The entry level card is known as 'Best Price Save Smart' and offers annual savings of up to Rs 14,250 subject to certain spends and likewise, the premium variant is known as the 'Best Price Save Max' card and offers annual savings of up to Rs 40,247, Mr Iyer stated.

The card would be supported by Diners Club International, a business unit of Discover Financial Services and would help best price members to simplify and manage their business spends, all while enjoying unique privileges and offers, he further stated.

Our members in the kirana segment, offices and institutions segments and all our small re-sellers would be able to avail credit through digital and for a period ranging between 18 and 50 days and this credit is free,' Mr Iyer disclosed.

We would continue to open more stores in the country and would soon open a store at Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh, he added.
