Agartala, Nov 18 (UNI) Tripura Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma today urged the parents and the school authorities to encourage children to develop the habit of reading beyond syllabus and textbooks while addressing the gathering of 8th foundation of Agartala Public School, English Medium, the premier privately run school here.
He called upon the teachers to take effort for building good character of children for better future of the country and added, “Textbooks are merely a part of academics, but all-round development of children is dependent on their extracurricular activities including reading of out of syllabus books and contemporary issues where parents and teachers need to take leading role.”
There is indeed a demand for studying in English Medium schools, but it is not that they would be crafted into English man. These schools’ have infrastructures and arrangements to develop children in every way to compete in different activities, he observed.
