Telangana’s Singareni reviews coal transport from Odisha’s Naini Mine, targets 12,000 tonnes daily

Hyderabad, Aug. 5 (UNI) State-owned Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) on Wednesday held a special review meeting at the Naini Coal Mine in Odisha to ensure the transportation of coal produced at the mine to nearby railway sidings and local consumers as per the prescribed targets.
The mining company is making arrangements to transport a minimum of 12,000 tonnes of coal per day from the Naini Mine.
Senior officials directed Naini Area officers to coordinate closely with coal consumers and transportation agencies to achieve the targeted coal movement, the company said in a release.
The meeting was chaired by SCCL Director (Personnel & Finance) Gowtham Potru and Executive Director (Coal Movement) B. Venkanna. Representatives from major coal-consuming companies, including Jindal Steel, Jindal India Power Limited, Meenakshi Energy Limited, and Tamil Nadu Power Generation Corporation Limited (TNPGCL), along with coal transportation agencies, participated in the meeting.
Addressing the participants, Gowtham Potru said the Naini Coal Mine is expected to produce six million tonnes of coal annually.
The coal will be supplied to nearby power plants, the Singareni Thermal PowerPlant in Telangana and thermal power stations in Tamil Nadu.
He urged transportation agencies to ensure daily coal movement in accordancewith the targets and requested coal consumers to extend their cooperation forsmooth operations.
Venkanna stressed the need for transport agencies to provide full supportfor moving coal to the Hindol Railway Siding and Kamakhya Nagar Sidingto facilitate rail transportation.
Representatives of consumer companies assured SCCL management that they wereready to lift coal according to their daily allocations and would coordinatewith transport agencies for uninterrupted movement.
Transport agencies also assured that they were prepared to meet the requiredtransportation targets.The meeting also discussed bottlenecks affecting coal transportation routesand measures to address them.
Later, SCCL officials met Angul District Collector M. Abdul Akhtar and Angul District Superintendentof Police Rahul Jain andsought the district administration's support in ensuring uninterrupted roadtransportation of coal.
The officials assured cooperation in facilitating smooth movement.Earlier, Gowtham Potru and Venkanna visited the Naini Coal Mine and reviewedthe coal production process.
The meeting was attended by Naini Area General Manager D. Baidyaand other senior SCCL officials.
