Telangana celebrates 70th anniv of NCC with fervour

Hyderabad, Nov 25 (UNI) The 70th anniversary of National Cadet Corps (NCC) was celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm at General Krishna Rao Parade Ground in Secunderabad on Sunday.

For the first time, a contingent of partially-blind students of Netra Vidyalaya of Jeeyar Educational Trust took part in the parade, taken out on the occasion.

Senior Division/Senior Wing and Junior Division/Junior Wing contingents, representing all nine groups of the Directorate, participated in the parade, reviewed by Major General N Srinivas Rao, General Officer Commanding, Telangana and Andhra Sub Area & Colonel Commandant of Regiment of Artillery.

The highlights of the parade were Tent pegging, Horse show, Malkhamb, Platoon mock drill, Military band display and release of NCC Journal.

The NCC Day was also celebrated by all nine Groups in their respective Group Headquarters in both states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. On this occasion, all cadets took a pledge to work towards various noble causes, such as saving the girl child, not taking dowry and contribute towards religious harmony.

Major Rao urged all the personnel of NCC Directorate to re-dedicate themselves to follow the true traditions and customs of NCC. He asked them to ensure that young cadets are groomed and nurtured with qualities like discipline, leadership, secular outlook and self-less service to the Nation.

'NCC is truly relevant and important for our young cadets in the present day, when our Nation is facing serious challenges. NCC has emerged as the one of the largest youth organisations in the world with 14 lakh cadets of our country, creating a force of disciplined and trained young men and women, who will be a valuable asset to the nation,' he added.
