Taiwan to start human trials of Corona virus vaccine this autumn : Vice president

Taipei, Taiwan, May 23 (UNI) Taiwanese Vice-President Lai Ching-te has claimed that his country's scientists are on course to begin human trials of a potential Covid-19 vaccine during the autumn months of the current year.
Ching-te made these claims on Friday after his visit to one the prominent laboratories of the National Health Research Institutes (NHRI) in the northern Miaoli County and his interaction with experts of the facility who are involved in the virus research and vaccine development process.
"I visited the National Health Research Institutes and the vaccine manufacturing plant to understand what progress has been achieved at this stage in the research and development of a vaccine [against the coronavirus]. Human trials will be carried out this fall," Ching-te facebook past says as quoted by Sputnik.
The Vice President pointed out the excellent track record of the NHRI specialists who had provided significant assistance to the government during the SARS epidemic in 2003 and the bird flu epidemic two years later.
Taiwan is one of the nations with the best records in controlling the spread of the virus, till date Taiwan has recorded 441 Covid-19 cases with seven of those succumbing to the disease 408 have recovered from the disease.
