South Korea arrests Shincheonji sect leader

Seoul, Aug 1 (UNI) South Korea on Saturday arrested the leader of a religious sect linked to the country's largest Novel Coronavirus outbreak.
Lee Man-hee (88), heads the Shincheonji Church of Jesus, whose 5,000 members became infected with COVID-19, making up 36 per cent of all Coronavirus cases in the country.
The authorities accused Mr Man-hee of hiding information about the group's members and gatherings from contact tracers.
The Church said that the reason Mr Lee did not share that information was because he was concerned about his members' privacy. The Church told the people not to hide information from the authorities.
South Korea currently houses 14,336 Coronavirus patients, while the contagion has so far claimed 300 lives.
Mr Lee was arrested early on Saturday, following an investigation. A Judge said there were signs that evidence related to the case was being destroyed, a BBC report said.
