SIO demands strict action against extortionists active in colleges

Kolkata, Jul4(UNI) The West Bengal wing of Students Islamic Organisation of India(SIO) on Wednesday demanded government action against those involved in extorting money from students for admission to various colleges in Kolkata.
"It is a matter of shame that syndicates have now made their way into educational institutes of West Bengal," said Imam Hossain, SIO's general secretary, West Bengal zone, addressing a press conference here.
"The police have to issue notices, alerting students and parents against the extortionists active in the colleges. These incidents have maligned our state's image and its culture of education," he added.
