SI to continue supporting two-State solution for Israel and Palestine

London, Mar 28 (UNI) The Socialist International -- a worldwide association of political parties which seek to establish democratic socialism, will continue to be engaged in fully supporting the two-State solution for Israel and Palestine living side by side in peace and security.
The Socialist International has said this in the backdrop of US president Donald Trump signing a presidential proclamation recognising the Golan Heights as Israeli territory.
"This decision is contrary to fundamental principles of international law and to specific resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council on the Middle East, emphasising the “inadmissibility of the acquisition of territory by war and the need to work for a just and lasting peace in which every State in the area can live in security,” a statement by the Socialist International said on Thursday.
"We are equally committed to contributing to a future of peace, democracy and freedom for the people of Syria," the statement added.
