Harare, July 10 (UNI) Shubman Gill showcased his batting prowess with a stunning innings, guiding India to a commanding total of 182/4 against Zimbabwe in the third T20Is at Harare Sports Club here on Wednesday.
Shubman, leading from the front, top-scored with an impressive 66 runs, supported by Ruturaj Gaikwad who contributed a brisk 49 before being dismissed by Blessing Muzarabani, who finished with figures of 2/25. A crucial over from Wessly Madhevere tilted the scales in India's favor, as both Shubman and Ruturaj launched big sixes to bolster the innings.
India, opting to bat first after winning the toss, began aggressively with openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (36 off 27) and Shubman laying a solid foundation. The pair quickly amassed 29 runs off the first two overs, propelling India to 41/0 after three overs.
Despite Zimbabwe's spirited comeback in the middle overs, where they tightened the run flow with disciplined bowling and sharp fielding, India managed to maintain momentum.
Sanju Samson's late cameo of 12* runs off just 7 deliveries provided the finishing touches to India's innings, capitalising on Zimbabwe's occasional fielding lapses. As the hosts now prepare to chase down a competitive target of 183 runs, all eyes are set on their batting lineup to see if they can match India's strong performance.
