Shabab Sabri to sing theme song for India-Bangladesh Int'l wheelchair cricket series

New Delhi, Mar 21 (UNI) Ace Bollywood playback singer Shabab Sabri has volunteered to sing the theme song for the India-Bangladesh International Wheelchair Cricket Series at Goregaon Sports Club, Mumbai on April 3 and 4 this year.

The first ever International Wheelchair Cricket Series in India will be held in Mumbai for the first time in history.

Talking to mediapersons, Shabab said, “It is my pride and pleasure to be associated with this international event on the invitation of my good friend Nevada Putman. We are working on a fantastic theme track and it will be released soon.”

Shabab’s father Iqbal Sabri and uncle Afzal Sabri of Indian Sabri Brothers fame were qawalli and Sufi singers in India.

Shabab began training under Rashid Khan Saheb and Safaraz Khan at the age of 14. Later on Sabri learned and performed in any live shows with his father.

He has lent his voice for hundreds of Bollywood and film tracks, including the very popular Hum Ka Peeni Hein (Dabaang), Tere Naina Bade Katil (Jai Ho), Dil Kare Choon Chein (Singh is Bling), Chalao Na Naino Se Baan (Bol Bacchhan), Dil Mere Muft Ka (Agent Vinod), Jalte Diye (Prem Ratan Dhan Payo), besides several others.

In Mumbai, the matches will be held at the Goregaon Sports Club Complex, which is the venue sponsor for the Mumbai leg of the matches.

Wheelchair cricket teams from India and Bangladesh are participating in this series, with Indian players coming across India.

The event is organised by the Nevada Putman Foundation of Malad, Mumbai in association with the Disabled Sporting Society and supported by the Gyandeep Seva Charitable Trust of Mumbai.

The Indian team is captained by Ramesh Sartape of Mumbai and the Bangladesh

team is captained by Mohammad Mohasin.

An Indian wheelchair player, Rahul said, “It is good. There should be more competitions like this to unite our Asian and SAARC countries.”

With the commencement of the first series of the T20 Wheelchair competition, the players now are hoping for continuation of such events to empower differently able people.

The main highlight of this event is a celebrity cricket match between Bollywood film stars, Television celebs and commoners as well as the wheelchair cricket players.

Shabab will also play with the celebrity team against the winners of the India-Bangladesh Wheelchair series.

Several big Bollywood stars will be part of this event.
