Sadananda Gowda urges Kumaraswamy to convene a meeting of Union Ministers from Karnataka on Rehabilitation works taken up in Kodagu

Bengaluru, Jun 13(UNI) Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertiliser D V Sadananda Gowda has appealed to Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to convene a meeting of Central Ministers form the State to discuss on rebuilding of the 2018-rain ravaged Kodagu District.

In a letter to Kumaraswamy, copy of which was released to the press here on Thursday, Gowda said that “there is urgent need to convene a meeting to review the rebuilding and rehabilitation of the affected in the district”.

Sadananda Gowda suggested the Chief Minister to provide the latest information regarding the extent of relief works completed, to be completed and other related details.

The extent of financial assistance, to provide houses, reconstruction of infrastructure facilities including roads, bridges and land, houses and agriculture lands, which were ravaged in the 2018 unprecedented rains which had rattled the Kodagu district, needs to be reviewed, the Union Minister stated in his letter.

It may be recalled that the state government had made an initial estimate of loss over Rs 2000 to Rs 3000 crore, due to damage to roads, bridges and government houses, besides land, houses and farm land in Kodagu district.

Thousands of people, were also rendered homeless in the rain rattled district in Kodagu.
