Rural UP power consumers to get 5 pc rebate for paying bill on time

Lucknow, Dec 16 (UNI) In a major relief to the power consumers in the rural area in Uttar Pradesh, the state electricity regularity commission has decided to provide five per cent rebate instead of one per cent to those rural consumers who pay their bill within the time limit.
The verdict was pronounced by commission chairman Raj Pratap Singh and the two members S K Agarwal and Kaushal Kishore after hearing the power distribution companies. Though the verdict was given by the Commission on December 12 but it was made public on Sunday.
With this decision around one million rural consumers who come under LMV-5 in the state will get the benefit. Earlier UP Power Corporation limited hard moved a petition before the regularity commission seeking approval to increase the subsidy to the regular rural consumers paying their bills on time from one per cent to five per cent.
However the commission clarified that the UPPCL will suffer a financial loss of Rs 15 crore annually for this scheme and the corporation has said before them that they will not charge additional from other consumers to gap the financial loss.
Meanwhile ,UP Rajya Vidyut Upbhokta Parishad chairman Avshesh Kumar Verma has thanked state power minister Srikant Sharma for this sop for the rural owner consumers and has demanded that this facility should be extended to all power consumers in the state.

Rajgarh, MP, Jan 23 (UNI) A case was registered against Bharatiya Janata Party leader and erstwhile minister Badrilal Yadav a day after he made an objectionable remark – against the lady Collector – from the dais during a BJP protest meeting in Biaora, law-enforcement authorities said.
The action followed a police complaint lodged by an official. Yadav’s words generated protest from the district’s government employees. The comment – which drew a vitriolic reaction from Congress leaders – was uttered on Wednesday when the politician was accusing the bureaucrat of favouring ruling Congress workers and acting against their saffron counterparts.
