New Delhi, Dec 12 (UNI) The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday witnessed uproar by AIADMK, DMK and CPM members over their demand for protection of Cauvery Delta farmers, forcing repeated adjournments of the .House, the last one for the day.
As soon as the House reassembled in the post lunch session, the members of the AIADMK, DMK and CPM were into the well , demanding protection of Cauvery Delta farmers..
Shouting slogans ‘We want justice’, the agitating members demanded protection of the Cauvery Delta farmers.
Amid the uproar, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu called for taking up the National Trust for Welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities (Amendment) Bill, 2018, which seeks to fix the tenure of the Chairperson and members of the Board of the National Trust to three years.
After a brief discussion, in which Mr Das of the CPM participated, the Bill was passed by a voice vote.
Even as the discussion on the Bill was on, the members of the AIADMK, DMK and CPM continued shouting slogans despite warning by the Chairman that he would take action against the agitating members.
Soon after the passage of the Bill, the Chairman sought to take up National Council for Teacher Education (Amendment) Bill . However, this was objected to by the members of the Congress who said that the House be first brought in order.
As the uproar continued, the Chairman adjourned the House for the day.
The House had earlier been adjourned during the Zero Hour and the Question hour on the same issue.
