Remote areas take to tourism to boost economy

Gangtok, Aug 19 (UNI) Senior Sikkimese Minister DT Lepcha has been trying to ensure that people living along remote border areas of this tiny Himalayan state are economically self-dependent.
‘I have been encouraging villagers to build Home Stays for tourists.They have small cosy houses. Keeping two three rooms for guests would make it easy for tourists to visit different places,' Mr Lepcha, who holds the Transport,Building & Housing portfolio, told UNI recently.
