Rain god smiles over MP

Bhopal, June 25 (UNI) Though numerous places in Madhya Pradesh experienced precipitation on Tuesday, the state capital’s residents had to suffer increased humidity following a drizzle.
A heavy rain alert – effective for 24 hours – was sounded in Indore, Ujjain, Ratlam, Jhabua, Alirajpur, Dhar, Barwani and Agar Malwa districts.

Low-lying settlements were flooded in Indore and Shivpuri. One person died when a squall blew off a dwelling’s tin roof in Barwani.

“Rainfall figures over the past 24 hours are Jhabua, Bhabra, Khachrod and Sonkatch 90 mm each; Mahidpur 70; Gautampura 60; Ratlam and Thandla 50 each; Indore and Gandhwani 30 each. Rewa was the state’s hottest at 41.5 degrees Celsius,” senior meteorologist AK Shukla told UNI here.
