Question Hour washed off for second day: LS pays homage to Martyrs of Dec 13 terror attack on Parl

New Delhi, Dec 13 (UNI) Lok Sabha could not transact business during Question Hour and the House was adjourned twice by the Speaker Sumitra Mahajan after her repeated plea to slogan shouting agitating members to allow smooth conduct of the business went unheeded.
Opposition members trooped into the well of the House carrying placards and raising anti-government slogans.
The Speaker first adjourned the House for about 10 minutes and then for about 20 minutes till 12 noon.
When the House reassembled to start the proceedings after first adjournment, Ms Mahajan told the protesting members that the issues raised by them by coming into the well could be raised under the rules of proceedings of the House.
She also said she could allow some members to raise their subject matters after the Question Hour. However, there was no positive impact of her plea.
Then, she adjourned the House till 12 noon.
Earlier, the House paid tributes to five Delhi police personnel and others who lost lives on December 13, 2001 when terrorists had attacked Parliament.
After the obituary references by Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, the members stood in silence for a brief period.
The Speaker said this occasion should also unite all countrymen and women in a purpose of unity
to fight the menace of terrorism.
Congress members continued to raise the Rafale issue while among others TDP MPs demanded Special Category status for Andhra Pradesh. The
Speaker told TDP MPs that their agitation in the House was unwarranted as there was already a no-confidence motion on the issue and a detailed
discussion held on the issue.
Lok Sabha could not transact any business in last two days. On Wednesday too, no much business could be transacted except a brief zero hour mention by Akali Dal MP Prem Singh Chandumajra.
However, amid din The Dam Safety Bill, 2018 was introduced in the House.
The winter session of Parliament got underway on Tuesday and the House was adjourned for the day on the first day of the session after paying tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee and others.
