Priyanka starts Pratigya yatra in UP to empower voters with 7 poll sops, emphasis on girls

Barabanki Oct 23 (UNI) Congress general secretary and in-charge of Uttar Pradesh Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday flagged off 3 Pratigya Yatras in the state in view of the 2022 assembly polls and announced seven " Pratigya' (promises) to the people of the state.

Ms Vadra said the seven promises are 40 per cent assembly seats to women , loan waiver for farmers, 20 lakh government jobs to youths , promise of support price of wheat-paddy Rs 2500 per quintal and to increase sugarcane MSP to Rs 400 per quintal , promise to give Rs 25,000 to corona affected poor families and promised to cut electricity bill half and smart phone to inter-pass girls and, scooty to graduate girls.

She announced that her party will bring out a separate poll manifesto for women and called up the fairer sex to plunge into politics, to grab the opportunity given by Congress.

The Congress leader defended that announcement to give smart phone and scooty to girls is not just a poll gimmick but it is the way to empower girls and make them stronger.

Talking about the farm loan waiver , she said earlier too UPA government had given Rs 72,000 crore loan waiver scheme in the country which helped the farmers a lot.

Giving details about 20 lakh government jobs, Ms Vadra said she had met several youths, who are working in the government departments but were not made permanent." We will fulfill their demands by making their jobs permanent," she said.

She said three Pratigya yatras commenced from today from Barabanki, Varanasi and Saharanpur with a slogan of " Hum Vachan Nibhayenga".

These 3 yatras will cover majority of districts in just 10 days and will end on November 3.

First Pratigya Yatra (Varanasi Awadh) will start from Varanasi and end in Rae Bareli, which will cover Chandauli, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Amethi districts and this route will be led by former MP Pramod Tiwari along with former MP Rajesh Mishra and former MLA Nadeem Javed.

The second Pratigya Yatra (Barabanki Bundelkhand) - will start from Barabanki and end at Jhansi, which will include Lucknow, Unnao, Fatehpur, Chitrakoot, Banda, Hamirpur, Jalaun districts.

This route will be led by former MP PL Punia , while other leaders would be former Union Minister Pradeep Jain Aditya and Chairman of Media Department and former state Minister Nasimuddin Siddiqui.

Third Pratigya Yatra - will start from Saharanpur and will end at Mathura, which will include Muzaffarnagar, Bijnore, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Badaun, Aligarh, Hathras, Agra districts. This yatra will be led by former Union Minister Salman Khurshid and Congress MP candidate from Lucknow Acharya Shri Pramod Krishnam .

Meanwhile, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, while coming to Barabanki from Lucknow held a women chaupal at Harakh village in Barabanki. The Congress leader interacted with women working in the fields and talked to the girls there.

Priyanka was with the rural women for about 30 minutes and even asked them if they are interested in politics and want to contest polls. She sat in the fields on hay spread out by the women.

The girls said they know about the new Congress slogan, "Larki hu, Lar Sakti hu."
