President and PM greet People of Karnataka on the eve of Kannada Rajyotsava Day

Bengaluru, Nov 1 (UNI) President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have greeted people of Karnataka on the 63rd Kannada Rajyotsava even as the day was celebrated through out the State with much fun fare on Thursday.

President Kovind in his tweeter has greeted the people and wished the State to proper further in the coming days, Mr Modi has tweeted saying that 'i pray for prosperity of the State and greet my sister and brothers on the occasion. Karnataka has its own history and has identified itself in various fields by giving shelter to achievers. "I pray god for happiness and safety of people of Karnataka.'

People of Kanataka expressed their happiness and gratitude for the greetings of President and Prime Minister who have greeted in the State language Kannada.

In the State Capital, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy hosted the national flag and Kannada Flag.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister called for unity. "State is one and should not encourage those who are trying to divide it but teach them lesson at approprite time. People of 30 District in the State are one. Unification should be kept intact and there should not be even a small crack."

He said that for prosperity there is need to teach English as one language from primary level itself in Schools and from first standard itself it will be introduced in Kannada language Schools through out the State. " Learning English is not meant to claim superiority over Kannada, but it is aimed to bring equality among the children irrespective of whether they are studying in English or Kannada medium Schools. There is need to remove inequality between children coming from rural and urban areas.

Mr Kumaraswamy said that Rs 1200 crore grant was released by the State government for modernisation of State Government Schools. Steps have been taken to open three Skill Development Universities in the State.

However, the celebration sans 'Rajyorsava Award' distribution function slated for evening as it was postponed due to election code is in force for November 3 byelection to three Lok Sabha seats and two Assembly constituencies including Bellari, Shivamogga, Mandya (LS), Jamakhandi and Ramangar (both Assembly).
