PM, LS Speaker, UPA chairperson and several leaders pay floral tribute to Sheila Dikshit

New Delhi, Jul 20 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, former president Pranav Mukherjee, former PM Dr Manmohan Singh and several other prominent political leaders from different parties visited former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit's residence in Nizamuddin East and laid wreaths offering tributes to her on Saturday evening.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal along with Deputy CM Manish Sisodia also paid tributes to the veteran Congress leader who is known for her contribution towards the developmental works in the national capital over her tenure as a Chief Minister for fifteen consecutive years.
The mortal remains of the departed leader was kept at the residence of her sister Rama Dhawan at Nizamuddin area in the evening.
Senior Congress leaders along with hundreds of party workers gathered at the residence to pay homage to the departed soul.
Political leaders such as Sharad Yadav, Brinda Karat, Sitaram Yechury, Vijay Goel, Ahmed Patel, Manoj Tiwari, Kiran Walia, Ashok Walia and many others visited here to pay their respects.
Brinda Karat said that despite political differences Dikshit always had respect for fellow politicians and was very much accessible to all and did not have any kind of self pride or arrogance.
Similarly, leaders expressed that her work and dedication for the city is something that will be remembered for times to come and what she did was commendable.
They said that she was a great administrator and a strong leader and her passing away was a great loss.
Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, Shivraj Patil, Yoganand Shastri, and former Foreign Minister Natwar Singh laid wreath on her mortal remians.
People, especially Congress workers started coming in large numbers at the Nizamuddin residence where her mortal remains was kept.
Her last rites will be performed on Sunday afternoon at the Nigam Bodh Ghat along the river Yamuna at around 1430 hours.
