Over 1 lakh drone pilots will be needed in next 3-4 years: Dr Vivek Mendonsa

Panaji, Oct 9 (UNI) Over one-lakh drone pilots will be needed in the next three-four years, according to Dr Vivek Mendonsa, Director – Marketing, Lynx - Lawrence and Mayo.

In a conversation with UNI, Mendosa said the drone market is very promising and there is likelihood of the market value touching Rs 15,0000 crore in the next three-four years.

'There are more than 300 startups in the country and they can easily play their role in taking the market to new heights. There is tremendous growth potential as now drones are also being used to address traffic congestion problems and ambulances as well,' he said.

Appreciating the efforts of the government in popularising use of drones, he said,'Government policy is in tune with the industry's requirement. Users too are regularly giving their feedback to the government. Government wants startups to commit production, set targets and avail the incentives through product linked incentives. I see a great future for the industry as it is giving a push to Make in India and Skill India initiatives, ' he said.

Pointing out that the drones are being used for various applications like town planning, fire-fighting, agricultural spraying, video shooting, courier, despatch of medicines to remote and inaccessible areas in India, the youth of Goa can think of job opportunities abroad or outside the state after getting proper training.

Mendonsa said Lynx - Lawrence and Mayo too intends to start manufacturing drones once the market settles down.

Lynx Lawrence & Mayo has announced it plans to start a full-fledged drone training academy in Goa.
