OCA to set up an international standard Cricket academy

Cuttack, Aug 01 (UNI) An international standard cricket academy will be soon set up by the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) near Cuttack–Bhubaneswar at a cost of approximately
Rs 50 crore.

The Apex Council meeting of the OCA presided over by its President Pankaj Lochan Mohanty decided to establish the proposed academy over 20 to 40 acres of land and will have 2-3 cricket fields.

It will have all other modern amenities like practice wickets, match fields, swimming pool, sand pit, gym, rehab room, residential complexes and recreation room.

The meeting also decided to renovate the Barabati Stadium.

The infrastructures like Gallery No-7, the Club House, Sachin Tendulkar Indoor hall, OCA academy, Barabati stadium Ground & other infrastructures will also be repaired and renovated and landscaping will be done in major areas of Barabati stadium.

The renovation work will start as soon as possible.

The meeting decided that OCA will develop the infrastructure of all it’s affiliated units. The OCA will provide equipment and will appoint a coach for the development of cricketers at the grass root Level.

The OCA is planning to develop turf wickets across the state which will immensely benefit the cricketers.

If the situation improves then OCA will start its domestic cricket activity subject to the condition of BCCI guideline and approval of the State government and again start the VISION@2024.

The OCA will soon start the coach development program for the existing coaches and also for those who aspire to become a cricket coach through a virtual platform.

It is also planning to start a players strengthening & conditioning program through a virtual platform to keep players fit and match ready.

The OCA will release the outstanding of player’s pension and decided to increased the players pension.
