Noted writer, politician Mridula Sinha passes away

New Delhi, Nov 18 (UNI) Renowned litterateur and former Goa Governor Mridula Sinha died here on Wednesday due to heart attack. She was 77.
Sinha had suffered the attack on November 14 and was admitted to Fortis Hospital.
Her son and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Naveen Sinha told UNI that she was showing signs of improvement but on Monday she slipped into a state of unconsciousness and breathed last at around 1430 hrs of Wednesday.
She was born on November 27, 1942 in Chhapra village of Muzaffarpur district in Bihar. Sinha earned an MA in Psychology and became a spokesperson in Muzaffarpur college.
She also served as the principal of a school in Motihari. Later, she left the job and dedicated herself to the service of Hindi literature. She took out a social magazine in the name of the fifth column. Her husband, Dr. Ramkripal Sinha, was a professor of English in a college at the time of marriage, but he later joined politics and served as a Minister in the Bihar government.
The veteran BJP leader was also appointed as the Chairman of the Central Social Welfare Board during the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah condoled her demise.
In a Twitter post, Mr Modi said, "Smt Mridula Sinha Ji will be remembered for her efforts towards public service. She was also a proficient writer, making extensive contributions to the world of literature as well as culture. Anguished by her demise. Condolences to her family and admirers. Om Shanti."
The Union Home Minister, in his message, said that Sinha will always be remembered for her writings.
