New Delhi, June 17 (UNI) While supporting the demand of special status to Andhra Pradesh, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has once again raised the similar demand for Bihar.
Apart from this he also criticised various centrally assisted schemes such as anganwadis and mid-day meal plans.
Speaking at the governing council meeting of the NITI Aayog here on Sunday, Mr Kumar said that the state lagged behind on indexes of human development, per capita income, education, health and institutional finance.
“And on the basis of all these, it is a fit case for special status,” said Mr Kumar.
He also demanded the release of Rs 2,600 crore as Backward Region Grant Fund (BRGF), which he claimed was due to his state.
Mr Kumar said that after division of Bihar, Jharkhand was created and most of the resources went to Jharkhand leaving Bihar with few resources needed for the development.
Criticising anganwadis and mid-day meal plans, Bihar CM said that temples of education had been reduced to cooking centres, thereby undermining the quality of education.
