New Mammography unit opened at KIMS ICON in Vizag

Vishakhapatnam, Jan 11 (UNI) KIMS ICON Hospitals opened a new mammography unit here on Friday.
The new equipment, Allengers Venus has been donated by Rotary club Waltair, Vishakhapatnam and Rotarians from Pune, Vivek Aranha, PDG; Kailash Monga, Chairman of Rotary Foundation.
The machine donated by Rotary club, will help KIMS ICON hospitals deliver breast screening service, as well as screen suggestive patients and improve the diagnosis of patients with suspected breast cancer.
The machine, which provides high quality images, saves time, eliminates retakes, lowers dose, is also compatible with digital stereo-tactic biopsy device to perform FNA, FNL and Core biopsies making it a more reliable service, KIMS ICON said in a release here.
SB Card Holder members under ‘Sukhibhava’ scheme, a medicare by MP and EEH and MW Trust, will get the mammography tests at nominal charges.
“We are extremely proud to be part of this donation and hope that this machine will bring a significant boost to KIMS ICON in helping with earlier detection, which is critical,” said Kailash Monga, Chairman and Rotary Foundation on the occasion.
“I’m proud of the hard work by everyone involved and would like to thank our breast care and radiography teams for making the project such a success, said Dr P Satish Kumar Managing Director, KIMS-ICON Hospital.
