MoU to be revived for setting up ropeway between Anandpur Sahib and Naina Devi: HP CM

Shimla, Aug 10 (UNI) The governments of Himahcal Pradesh and Punjab agreed to revive the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two states, setting up of ropeway project between Shri Anandpur Sahib and Shri Naina Devi Ji. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur disclosed here on Friday.

The Chief Minister said that he had taken up the issue with his Punjab counterpart Captain Amrinder Singh on February 26, 2018 and subsequently, senior officers of the state government were in constant touch with the officers of Punjab government in this regard.
He said this project would prove to be a milestone to not only boosting tourism sector in both Himachal and Punjab, but would also be an epitome of strengthening the bond of love and brotherhood between the two states, besides facilitating the devotees visiting these two religious places. He said the Project was cleared by the State Cabinet on Thursday.
Mr Thakur said that efforts would be made to ink the MoU during this month, which would accelerate the pace of the project.
The completion of this project would save the time of visitors and also provide employment and self-employment opportunities to the local people. The project would cost approximately Rs 200 crore and would cover a distance of 3.5 kilometers.

He said that Additional Chief Secretary (Culture & Tourism) Ram Subhag Singh called on Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister of Punjab Navjot Singh Sidhu at Chandigarh and discussed modalities for early revival of the MoU between the two states.
