Make society more accessible to deaf: Expert

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 16 (UNI) Bringing in changes in society based on a holistic view is necessary to fully utilize the potential of the people with hearing-impairment, according to Dr Rangasayee, Former Director of the Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities (Divyangan), Mumbai, here on Friday.
Delivering a special address at the ongoing International Conference on Communication Disorders and Audiological Practices (ICCAP 2022) that began at the National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH) here on Thursday, Dr Rangasayee said “It is of utmost importance to take necessary steps to bring in changes in society to fully harness the abilities of people with hearing-impairment.”
Putting forward a comprehensive action plan to increase the participation of the deaf in society, he said "changes in society are required to make it accessible for persons with hearing impairment."
