Lenny D’Gama, only Asian evaluator at Tokyo 2020

Panaji, Jun 21 (UNI) Goa’s AIBA certified ITO Lenny D’Gama will be the only evaluator from Asia to be a part of Tokyo 2020 championship to be held from July 23 to August 8, 2021, in Tokyo this year
The Games of the XXXII Olympiad or Tokyo 2020 is an upcoming international multi-sports event scheduled to be held from July 23 to August 8, 2021 in Tokyo. Goa’s AIBA certified International Technical Officer (ITO) and vice-president of Goa Boxing Association, Lenny D’Gama is the only evaluator from Asia to be a part of this championship this year, the rest being either from the United States or Europe. The event that was postponed from March 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic will not allow international spectators to be physically present at the venue.
D’Gama’s job at the championship will be to evaluate the referees and judges as per their performance in the ring, during the bouts and to check on the manipulation. The monitored championship will have one boxing ring with only two evaluators and one observer. India has nine boxers who have qualified for the Tokyo 2020 however, D’Gama is representing as a neutral ITO. Of late he has been promoted as an observer.
