JNU will not be allowed to stay away from nation's mainstream: Nishank

New Delhi, Jul 12 (UNI) The Government on Friday said that Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) of Delhi is a very good institution and it will not be allowed to stay away from the mainstream of the nation.

'JNU is at the peak in the field of research. This is a very good institution. We will run this university very

well. Due to some people, it will not be allowed to be defamed. There is no question of this University

being away from the mainstream of the nation,' Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' said in the Lok Sabha while replying to the debate on the Central Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2019

The Minister was responding to the issue raised by BJP member SP Singh Baghel. The BJP lawmaker while participating in the debate said that many Central universities can be established by the government but it should be ensured that they do not become 'second JNU'. He said that such students should not be admitted in these universities who allegedly follow 'anti-national' ideology.
