Jewellery robbed, trader injured in UP

Jaunpur, Nov 1 (UNI) Unidentified miscreants injured an ornament trader and robbed jewellery from his shop in the Line Bazar area of this district in Uttar Pradesh, police said on Friday.

Superintendent of Police Ravishankar Chavi here said ornament trader Suresh Seth was preparing to leave for his home after closing his shop situated at the Kachehri road in the Line Bazar area at around 2130 hrs on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, bike-borne, armed miscreants came there and started looting jewellery. Upon resistance from Mr Seth, the outlaws injured him and fled from the spot after robbing the jewellery while firing.

Although the robbery was recorded in the CCTV cameras, the miscreants had covered their faces and were also wearing helmets and hence, they are yet to be identified.

So far, police have not received any written complaint in this matter. An estimate about the robbery could be made after a complaint.
