It will be unconstitutional, if govt presents full budget, says Yashwant Sinha

New Delhi, Jan 28 (UNI) Former finance minister Yashwant Sinha on Monday said it would unconstitutional if the government presents a full budget.
Speaking just days ahead before Budget Day presentation on February 1, Mr Sinha said the government has no right to present the Economic Survey or introduce the finance bill as it may affect the outcome of the Lok Sabha elections.
Traditionally, in an election year, the outgoing government presents an interim budget or so-called vote-on-account, according to him.
Speaking at an interaction at the Indian Women’s Press Corps, Mr Sinha further stated that he didn’t trust the economic figures given out by the government anymore.
Replying to a question on the change in GDP data, he lashed out “If we are really are the fastest growing economy, you shouldn’t be having problems of agrarian distress, jobless growth. You wouldn’t have to dress up figures.”

Launching an attack against the Narendra Modi-led NDA government, he said power was concentrated in 'one person, one office', clearly hinting at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

Asked whether the entry of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will affect active politics, he replied in the affirmative, pointing to reports suggesting that she has already started creating an impact among the workers of their party.
On the issue of corruption, Mr Sinha said, "Apart from Rafale defence deal many cases of corruption have not come to light, but the fact so many wrongdoers have fled the country is also unprecedented."
The former BJP minister has been highly much critical of the BJP-led NDA government in recent times.
The interim budget will be presented by Finance Minister Piyush Goyal on February 1. It will be the last budget of the NDA government before the coming general elections.
