Iran's stadiums to reopen for sports competitions

Tehran, May 3 (Xinhua) Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Sunday that stadiums will reopen in the coming days after being closed since late February due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

"Stadiums will reopen but without fans. We will continue the reopening calmly and gradually," Rouhani said at a meeting at the National Headquarters for Managing and Fighting the Coronavirus in the capital of Tehran.

As of Sunday, a total of 97,424 Iranians have been infected with the novel coronavirus, of whom 6,203 died.

Iran announced its first cases of COVID-19 on Feb 19.

New Delhi, Jul 14 (UNI) Indian men's hockey player Sumit is delighted to have started outdoor skills training in his hometown Sonipat and is looking forward to rejoin his teammates when the national camp resumes.
The lockdown period saw Indian men's and women's teams remain at the Sports Authority of India Campus in Bengaluru close to three months without training due to to the COVID-19 lockdown.
