IPL 2019: AB, Ali steer RCB innings to 171/7 against MI

IPL 2019: AB, Ali steer RCB innings to 171/7 against MI

Mumbai, Apr 15 (UNI) AB de Villiers brilliant 75 and Moeen Ali's half century 50 helped Royal Challengers Bangalore post a respectable score of 171/7 in the stipulated 20 overs against Mumbai Indian here at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday.

Earlier hosts MI won the toss and opted to bowl inviting RCB to bat.

It was de Villiers 75 off 51 with 6 fours and 4 sixes and Ali's 50 off 32 with 1 four and 5 sixes that took RCB towards respectable total.

RCB openers Virat Kohli and Parhiv Patel started on a slow note, but received a major blow after skipper Kohli went early in the very 3rd over of the first ball in Jason Behrendorff spell going for an expansive drive after being caught off behind the stumps by wicketkeeper de Kock.

Kohli scored 8 off 9 balls with one four. Patel and Kohli put up just 12 runs for the first wicket partnership.

Parthiv Patel and AB de Villiers took the initiative to take the score to 37 for second wicket partnership.

After Kohli's departure Parthiv Patel came in and played a little cameo adding 28 off 20 balls with 4 fours and a six, but Parthiv was caught off by Yadav as Hardik Pandya sent him to the pavillion in the last ball of the seventh over.

After Parthiv, de Villiers and Moeen Ali played a crucial role adding 95 runs for their third wicket.
