India, Cyprus ink pacts on money laundering & for cooperation in environment sector

Larnaca (Cyprus), Sep 3 (UNI) In a major move to stem out the menace of money laundering, India and Cyprus on Monday signed a MoU on the same.
The pact was inked in the presence of President Ram Nath Kovind. There was also another pact signed by both sides for cooperation in the field of environment.
President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades was also present.
Both Presidents held wide range of discussions on the issues of mutual interest including promotion of business collaboration in the fields of IT and IT Enabled Services, tourism, shipping and renewable energy, MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar said.
He also said that President Kovind also paid tributes to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.
"Before his address to the Parliament of Cyprus, President of India President Kovind offered floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi’s bust at its premise," Mr Kumar tweeted.
In his address to the House of Representatives of Cyprus, President Kovind hailed Cyprus "as responsible nation state" and thanked it for the unstinted backing of India’s candidature in the expanded UN Security Council and the NSG.
